Why Pilates Village?

No need to travel far, we teach today's approach to Pilates – foundational purity and modern integration with the PSC Program -with master teachers who live right here in Louisville, Kentucky.

A new way to move

Joseph H Pilates was a true genius. He created a new way to move based around common sense principles - providing a veritable owner’s manual for the human body. The seeds of what we know as Pilates (what he referred to as Contrology) began in the 1920’s and continued to refine and innovate beyond his death in 1967. Originally an elite program of exercise popular among dancers and athletes, the Pilates Method is now accessible to nearly any body in any condition. Modifications for different conditions, injuries, postural types and level of fitness meet the client where they are while maintaining the guiding Principles set forth by Joseph Pilates all those years ago. He always said he was fifty years ahead of his time. As we look at what his work has made possible just over fifty after his death, all we can say is… he was right.

At Holly’s Pilates Village, we are dedicated to providing this innovative work, integrating modern approaches without sacrificing the foundational purity of Pilates. This is why we have embraced the Pilates Sports Center program for Pilates Teacher Training. Developed by a former dancer and a chiropractor, this program includes both the classical versions of exercises - demonstrating the movement while including the historical perspective and modern applications, along with Progressive versions of this master work, with modifications and recommendations for the broadest spectrum of clients. A PSC Pilates Teacher emerges from our program with the tools and knowledge to work with a wide range of clients in the best equipped authentic Pilates Studios.

Local studio, local teachers

The PSC program has been based at Pilates Village for over 10 years. Master teacher trainers Holly Holland and Teresa Willis work full-time at Holly’s Pilates Village. They are available for mentorship, advice and guidance.

Training Location benefits

Holly’s Pilates Village is the largest studio in the region with 3,500 square feet of space and equipment. Many studios limit apprentice hours to off times as they have limited space and resources. At Holly’s Pilates Village there is nearly always availability to schedule appointments and practice time throughout the day and evening in our busy studio. Any apprentice schedule can be accommodated.

We have a variety of instructors at the Village with a wide array of training backgrounds and specialties. The apprentice student will be able to observe different approaches as well as their own curriculum being applied daily on all kinds of bodies by master professional teachers.

Cost is all inclusive – local experts that will be here long after the initial coursework is complete

With PSC Teacher Training, there are no ongoing requirements. When you earn your PSC certificate, it is yours and you need do nothing else to remain in good standing. This is in contrast to other programs offered locally that require licensing fees and tests every two years to remain certified. Your Master Teacher Trainers live and work here in Louisville - they are available throughout your training for ongoing support. They don’t travel for sporadic weekend trainings, then disappear. And all the training happens right here in Louisville, as well. No air travel or hotels required. You can become a Pilates teacher right here, within a year and be ready to work at most area studios upon completion.

There are also no testing fees or hidden costs. Besides textbooks there are no additional costs. As well, there are discounted Pilates classes at Holly’s Pilates Village as long as you are in training.

Large studio that focuses on Pilates but also provides Corealign, yoga, Bone Strong Pilates

There are also different modalities being practiced daily at Holly’s Pilates Village. Our focus is Pilates, but we also offer yoga, CoreAlign and Bone Strong Pilates. This is an advantage for an apprentice teacher because exposure to different movement technologies expands our base of knowledge. If you get a client that is a yogi and you can “speak yoga,” you can better treat that client.

Pilates Village provides a short path to this valuable and satisfying career.

Our yearly program includes 142 classroom based hours with observation, self-integration and practice teaching rounding out the 450 hour program.
