A new way to move
Joseph H Pilates was a true genius. He created a new way to move based around common sense principles - providing a veritable owner’s manual for the human body. The seeds of what we know as Pilates (what he referred to as Contrology) began in the 1920’s and continued to refine and innovate beyond his death in 1967. Originally an elite program of exercise popular among dancers and athletes, the Pilates Method is now accessible to nearly any body in any condition. Modifications for different conditions, injuries, postural types and level of fitness meet the client where they are while maintaining the guiding Principles set forth by Joseph Pilates all those years ago. He always said he was fifty years ahead of his time. As we look at what his work has made possible just over fifty after his death, all we can say is… he was right.
At Holly’s Pilates Village, we are dedicated to providing this innovative work, integrating modern approaches without sacrificing the foundational purity of Pilates. This is why we have embraced the Pilates Sports Center program for Pilates Teacher Training. Developed by a former dancer and a chiropractor, this program includes both the classical versions of exercises - demonstrating the movement while including the historical perspective and modern applications, along with Progressive versions of this master work, with modifications and recommendations for the broadest spectrum of clients. A PSC Pilates Teacher emerges from our program with the tools and knowledge to work with a wide range of clients in the best equipped authentic Pilates Studios.
